Theyyam festival,  Kaliyattam,  at Theruvath Arayil Bhagavathisthanam. 



The ritual folk art theyyam is conducted here from 02-03 Nov 2015. Preliminary performances like Thottam/Vellattam etc are held in the late evening on the first day. Theyyams are then staged from next day morning – Padaveeran (5am), Vishnumoorthy (10am), Chooliyaar Bhagavathy (1pm), Muvalamkuzhi chamundi (3pm, amd Gulikan (6pm). Painting & Sculpture Exhibition at Guruvayur

Paintings and sculptures of various traditions from India including Kerala Mural, Ethnic and tribal traditions, based on the theme the epic Ramayan will be conducted at Guruvayur, Thrissur Dt., Kerala (India) from 09. 30 am to 07.00 pm from 06 to 16 August 2015.

The exhibition titled ‘Ramayanam’ organised by Institute of Mural Painting, Guruvayur, displays paintings and sculptures from various traditions of India including the traditions of Kerala Mural , Ethnic and tribal traditions, based on the theme the epic Ramayan. The event will be conducted at Institute of Mural Painting (Devaswom Vaijayanthi Hall), Guruvayur, Thrissur Dt, Kerala (India)



Nuances of Navarasa-s through Pacha Vesham

The five day national workshop, 'Shyamam', based on Navarasa-s and Natyasastra to Kutiyattam acting techniques, organised by Madhava Mathrugramam  focused on the nuances of Navarasa-s through Pacha vesham.  Beyond, the lecture - demonstrations and discussions by eminent scholars, the workshop had performances on each day focusing the 9-rasas. Read more .....

Nangiarkoothu, the Sanskrit dance drama is conducted as part of the Koodiyattam festival – Aashadotsavam by  Mani Madhava Chakyar Gurukulam, a learning and performing centre for Koodiyattam.

Ritual - Kalamezhuthum Pattum - at Kanadimadom Tharavadu, Thrissur


Kalamezhuthu pattu is a ritualistic performance where figure of the deity is drawn on the floor with natural powders. To complete the ritual, folk songs and some tantric rituals are performed and finally the whole drawing is rubbed off by the performer in trance. The ritual Kalamezhuthu (drawing) and Pattu (song) together is called Kalamezuthum pattum.

Two-day festival of Kalamezhuthum Pattu is held at Kanadimadom Tharavadu in Thrissur, Kerala (India) on 08 & 09 July 2015. Main ritual is Roopakkalam. Figures of Lord Vishnu Maya and subsidiary deities are drawn on the floor using natural powders. Songs praising the Lord, special pooja, Oracle’s performance, fireworks etc. are the other highlights. This temple is famous for 390 Kuttichathans, the aides of Lord Vishnu Maya. Situated 20km from Thrissur, to reach the temple catch the bus to Thriprayar going via Ammadam- Kodannur- Alappad- Chazhur and get down at Peringottukara Library stop. Then the sign boards of Kanadimadom Tharavadu guides you to the temple. Lot of special offerings and poojas are conducted during these days.

Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy, an autonomous body to promote the art and culture is organising a festival on story telling in Malayalam from 01 - 30 July 2015. The 'Kathaprasanga Maholsavam' is conducted at 6 different venues all over Kerala. The first schedule of the festival began at Thiruvananthapuram on 01 July.

Koodiyattam at Cheruthuruthy

On 28, 29 June 2015, from 05.30 pm, Koodiyattam performance by Kalamandalam Sangeeth Chakyar. Sangeeth will perform scenes from Asoka Vanikangam from the Sanskrit drama Ascharya Choodamani. This monthly performance is conducted at  Pangavu Siva Temple Ottupura, Cheruthuruthy, Thrissur Dt in Kerala(India).


The performance is supported by Kalamandalam Dhanarajan, Kalamandalam Ratheesh Bhas, Kalamandalam Ravikumar, Kalamandalam Vineesh, Kalamandalam Jayaraj, and Kalamandalam Sajith Vijayan on Mizhavu-percussion, Kalanilayam Rajan on Edakka-Percussion, Kalamandalam Sangeetha and Kalamandalam Prasanthi on Thaalam-cymbals and Kalamandalam Ravikumar (Chutty-make up).

Mohiniyattam at 'Ananya Samarpana' , a cross-border festival of classical dance

'Ananya Samarpana' , a cross-border festival of classical dance is conducted at Seva Sadan Auditorium, Malleswaram, Bengaluru, India from 26 to 28 June 2015 at 06.30 pm onwards.

The initial day 26 June, will showcase Mohiniyattam by Lakshmi N Viswanathan and Bharatanatyam by Divya Ramesh. Bharatanatyam by Shweta Prachande and Odissi by Madhulita Mohapatra & troupe will be held on the second day, 27 June. On the concluding day of the festival, 28 June, there will be a dance production, Upasana, a homage by Lalitanjali and Shijith Nambiar & Parvathy Nambiar.


National Painters Camp at Palakkad



Kerala Lalithakala Academy conducting National Camp for painters from 20 to 26 June 2015  at KTDC Garden House, Rock Garden Road, Malampuzha, Palakkad Dt, Kerala (India). The camp inaugurated on 20th  have 12 experienced artists as participants: Bhagyanath C, Manoj Vyloor, Muralidharan, Nagdas, Pranam Singh, Rajeswara Rao, Sajith Bin Amar, Sajith A S, Sajitha Shankar, Surendran Nair, Tensingh Joseph, Vijay Singh.
Visual presentations, talks by the artists and other programs will be held in the evenings of these days. On 21st 05.00 pm, there will a mohiniyattam performance.

Nangiarkoothu at Thiruvananthapuram

Kalamandalam Viswasree & troupe will perform Nangiarkoothu, the traditional Sanskrit dance drama, on 17 June 2015 at the Museum Auditorium, Govt Museum, ‪in ‎Thiruvananthapuram‬, Kerala.
The story played- "Madhurapravesham" . Viswasree will be accompanied by Kalamandalam Sajikumar and Margi Mahesh in percussion‬, Mizhavu and  Anayara Vijayan in Edakka, the percussion.‎Cymbals‬ / Thalam is by Margi Usha.

Programme begins at 06.00 pm with a brief appreciation class. Margi Usha will demonstrate on mudras. A detailed synopsis will be available at the venue.
