Kakkkarisi Natakam the folk dance drama





Kakkarissi Natakam presented by Pranavam Theatres, Thamarakkudy.



Kakkarassi Natakam, folk theatre originally from TamilNadu is a performing art of Kerala.

Based on the ancient legands of Lord Shiva and his consort Parvathy, this musical dance drama discuss the contemporary issues in a sattirical manner. Kakkalan, Kakkalathy, Vedan, Thampuran etc are the main characters of the play. This theatre form is more popular in the southern Kerala.


Kalamezhuthum Pattum





Kalamezhuthum Pattum is a ritualistic performance where figure of the deity is drawn on the floor with natural powders. After folk songs and some tantric rituals, drawing is rubbed off by the performer in trance. The ritual Kalamezhuthu (drawing) and Pattu (song) together is called Kalamezuthum pattum.

Vairankode Bhagavathy temple is situated at Vairankode / Vairamkode in Thirunavaya village, Malappuram Dt., Kerala (India).



The annual festival of the temple called 'Theeyattulsavam' is celebrated in February every year. The colorful processions at Vairamkode temple with Poothan, Thira, Kattalan and other folk forms is the attraction of the festival.
